About the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Department of History was established in 2004 and started its education and training life in 2012-2013. The main goal of the department is to train qualified historians who have acquired the ability to understand Turkey and the world from a historical and critical point of view, who are equipped to follow the developments in the field of history in Turkey and around the world. For this purpose, compulsory or elective courses related to Europe, America, Central Asia, the Middle East are given in our department from ancient times to the present. In addition to these courses, courses related to the historical method and the historiography profession are also given. Ottoman Turkish, Persian and English are also taught to be able to master the source languages, and Professional English lessons are also given to ensure that our students master the basic level of English historical terminology. In addition, our students have the opportunity to take both compulsory and elective courses in fields such as economics, literature, sociology. In addition, our department has double major and minor agreements with very different programs (such as Turkish Language and Literature, Archaeology, Sociology, Psychology, Business, Economics, Finance, Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, Political Science, International Trade and Business, Tourism and Travel Services). At the same time, our department has been accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Science, Literature, Science Literature, Language and History Geography Faculties Programs (FEDEK) recognized by YÖK in 2019.
About the Working Areas of History Graduates
Each candidate who graduated from the Bachelor of History has the title of "historian". The primary goal of the department that give history licenses is to train academic historians who will continue their master's and doctoral degrees. History undergraduate graduates can also work as specialists in archives in Turkey and around the world. People who receive the title of historian can also teach if they receive a formation. People who have graduated from a bachelor's degree in a field that has a significant contribution to understanding the world, such as history, if they have developed themselves in different fields, in fields other than history (cinema, literature, journalism, philosophy, etc.) they can do a master's degree and a doctorate. Historians can also work in various magazines and newspapers or, in general, in the media. In addition to all these, they also have opportunity to work in many different fields such as tourism, trade, museology and banking.
Staff
There are 3 Professor, 2 Associate Professors, 8 Assistant Professor in our department. Also, there are 3 Research Assistants who have completed their Ph.D. degrees. There is also a Research Assistant who is currently pursuing his doctoral studies.
